My name is Jesse Schneeberg and I have been into dogs my entire life. I hunted as a little kid, then got back into it as an adult with a dog named Rufus. I got an English Springer Spaniel, named Max, who kept me hunting and encouraged me to expand into more dogs. KC, my German Shorthaired Pointer, came next and was a wonderful addition to my home. After Rufus passed I finally got my first German Wirehaired Pointer, James. James just surpassed any and every expectation I ever had for a dog. As a 12 week old puppy he honored a point from KC, without any training from me. James went on to get his NAVHDA Natural Ability 112 Prize 1, his Junior Hunter, and he got his Grand Champion and Champion in the confirmation ring. While showing, I was encouraged by others to breed James as he was such a great example of the breed. He has had 3 litters of puppies from 2 different females, and all of them have proven that they are fantastic family dogs and hunters. I want to keep the breed healthy and keep up with the breed standard to provide the best dogs possible.
I got into guiding by chance. I would take family and friends hunting and would always come back with more birds than we planted. I got a call from Cackle Creek to guide a father/daughter hunt. I got to watch the excitement and pride in the father’s face when his daughter got her first pheasant rooster. The enjoyment I received from watching my dogs make people happy with wonderful hunts, and the fact that people would just have so much fun watching my dogs work the fields just cemented that I wanted to guide for people whenever I could.
With dog training, I again fell into it with training all of my own dogs. People would come up to me to ask how I got my dogs’ to behave so well and I would offer advice and help. I enjoyed helping owners and their dogs both feel confident in their abilities. Giving the owners back well behaved dogs with strategies to keep that behavior for the long term is my top priority. I am a no nonsense trainer but always wants the best for the dogs.
I love guiding hunts, training and breeding dogs. I am a proud member of the North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association (NAVHDA), and I had a NAVHDA Natural Ability Breeders Award for my August 2017 litter. I do support the American Kennel Club (AKC) and work with the GWP National Rescue. I will always respond to questions and look forward to talking to you.
